Gardens are great places for children of all ages to connect with the land.
Through playful activity and projects like growing vegetables and keeping chickens, children can learn about sustainable living, the cycles of life and death, about failure and success.

There is deep joy in taking food from your own garden, grown by your own hand and turning into a meal to be shared with others.
Yet in speaking with many landscapers, designers and horticulturalists it would appear that many of our children are spending less time on outdoor pursuits and more time on inside pursuits like watching TV or playing computer games.
In fact a recent advert in the Age newspaper
"Turn Off, Switch to Play" encourages parents to get their kids outdoors.
Things like composting, growing vegetables, making a scarecrow, feeding chickens, collecting eggs and growing a worm farm are all easy fun things to do in the school garden or at home.

Schools
Veggie Head aims to work with schools in the development of sustainable gardens including native gardens and veggie patches both on school ground and at private homes ( to support school education).

Over 50% of waste is organic and can be broken down on site.
By breaking down organic waste in the household you are helping the environment by reducing the amount of waste we send to landfill. Food waste rots and smells in normal bins but
composting can be fun.

We are able to offer:
1. Informal talks / presentations and activities based on the garden
2. Designing a garden as a team/class under the guidance of a designer
3. Implementing a garden in the school
4. Managing the school garden
